On Sunday 8th June, Amdani was moved to Colnbrook detention centre. He is booked in as a short stay detainee, which means he is under a harsher regime (max stay expected 2 days). Visiting time is 2.00 – 8.30, visitors require ID; he can have clothes, magazines etc. Amdani was allowed to spend £28 of his own money on a not very good mobile phone in Lindholme. He has been allowed to keep this phone with him in Colnbrook and sent this message to supporters.

A message from Amdani in Lindholme detention centre

Amdani Juma is currently detained in Lindholme detention centre pending deportation on Wednesday, much has been written about Amdani but nothing illustrates the immense empathy, grace and dignity of this man than the concerns he is raising at this time of great personal anxiety and fear.

Amdani Juma, a refugee HIV prevention and community worker in Nottingham, was detained by the immigration authorities today, Friday 30th May 2008. He is currently awaiting removal to Burundi. The removal date has been set for just four days time, Wednesday June 4th at 8pm. He is being detained in Campsfield Detention Centre and will be taken to the Immigration Removal Centre near Doncaster tomorrow to await removal from Heathrow.

Home Office threatens to deport Amdani Juma

Amdani Juma, a Nottingham activist and a survivor from Burundi but whose appeal for Indefinite Leave to Remain was turned down by the Home Office on 5th December, was detained whilst reporting at Loughborough reporting centre on 30th May. He remains in detention and has received notice that his removal is set for Wednesday 4th June on Kenya Airways flight KQ101 (Terminal 4, Heathrow).
